Shoutarou Hidari is the main rider of Kamen Rider W. Shoutarou claims himself as a hardiboiled detective, although his friends mostly calls him half-boiled. He works as a private detective and has an identity of transforming into a Kamen Rider, in the Futo City.
He uses the Joker Gaia Memory and the Double Driver to transform into Kamen Rider Double, with his partner Philip. When Shoutarou uses the Lost Driver, he can transform into his standalone form Kamen Rider Joker. He is portrayed by Renn Kiriyama. As a child, he is portrayed by Issei Kakazu.

Since Shoutarou is decisive and honed, he is a very remarked detective, even without the need of his partner. When he was forced to make a decisive and hard way, he had to put a lot of cruel emotions to the job that was bad yet necessary, that earned him to be hard-boiled. This was caused of his mentor also being like that, a hard yet necessary decision to make.
Shoutarou at first thought that Philip was a selfless man, and later realized about the real point of being a Kamen Rider. Even his relationship with Ryuu wasn't the best, due to his revenge and hard feelings he always turn against Shoutarou. But as Ryuu learns more about being a Kamen Rider, his soul changes to a best friend with Shoutarou.
He even built over relations with Philip, as to show emotion of what happens to him, compared to Philip's cold thinking. He wants Double to live up to the name "Kamen Rider", and so, he wants it to prevent his city of crying over grief.
He even feels guilty over the death of Sokichi, and doesn't even feel worthy of wearing his fedora hat, which is the most important thing to him. He also has a merciful side for his enemies, that gave him a good outlook, compared to his mentor, who mercilessly kills Dopants, such as Bat Dopant.
Shoutarou even felt not worthy of wearing his hat in the battle against Utopia Dopant. HIs emotion annd dedication also makes them have a reason for calling half-boiled, which he later accepts and uses it in different topics. He also has deep affections with also his friends, his clients, and the city itself, which makes him stronger to rule over to protect everything in his city with his power. He even overcome the maddening of Terror Dopant, despite having the same immunity as Philip and Ryuu do. Even though the enemies that makes Futo's citizens cry, he doesn't forgive them, yes, but he doesn't hold grudges near them either, but within the crime.
